“It’s a great feeling tying your passions to your profession!”
With its growing awareness of environmental problems, the Chinese government has been proactively taking measures to tackle the issue the past couple of years. Environmental protection on the manufacturers’ side is imperative, resulting in increasing demand for talents in this field. As an environmentally conscious individual, I have always considered protecting the environment a meaningful cause. Upon completing my degree in Chemical and Environmental Engineering, my career prospect wasn’t very clear since finding a job that best fit my major wasn’t straightforward. Fortunately, LF’s trainee program has provided me with an opportunity to explore my interest in environmental technology and allowed me to explore topics way beyond my curriculum.
Despite my lack of experience, I was entrusted to take the lead in EHS projects such as Environmental Impact Assessment and Process Safety Assessment, with tasks ranging from drafting proposals to presenting cases. This laid the groundwork for my analytical and presentation skills. Meanwhile, the EHS department has long been perceived as a supporting department within the industry – one that aids other departments in accomplishing their goals, whether it be optimising usage of recycled water or reducing harmful gas emission. It’s not until I work in LF that I realize how bound and determined LF is to be eco-friendly, when everyone sees taking conservation initiatives as their common goal.
LF’s trainee program not only provides me with a platform to explore my skillsets and acquire knowledge in environmental protection, but also acts as a bridge to facilitate my immersion in the working culture of China. Another thing I like about LF is the extensive support and collaboration among co-workers. This program is definitely something you should consider if China is where you would like to start your career in!
